1. On arrival at the Library:
all bags (other than small handbags), coats and other property must be
left outside the Reading Room. The Library accepts no liability for
the loss of personal possessions.
Visitors must sign the Visitors'
Book each day they use the Library.
2. Ordering material:
all material kept outside the reading room should be ordered using the
slips provided, one for each item. When completed as fully as possible
they should be handed to the Supervisor. No more than five items
will be handed out together. Loose papers may be handed out at the
discretion of the Supervisor, and checked back in.
Production is limited to
certain categories of material between 12 and 2pm. No material can be fetched
after 4.30pm. Please ask the Supervisor about the possibility of advance
orders.
3. Returning material: Readers should return Library material direct to the Supervisor, and be given their receipt slips before leaving the Library: they are held responsible for the material until receipts have been issued. A bell will be rung at 4.50pm to indicate that the Library is closing. No book or other Library material may be taken out of the Reading Room, including displayed periodicals.

food and drink may only be consumed in the Readers Refreshment Area or
Courtyard. Tobacco products may only be consumed in the Courtyard.
Personal computers may be
plugged into the electricity supply, but no other electronic equipment
including mobile telephones may be used in the Library.
Signs indicate parts of
the Library not accessible to readers; keep to public areas.
6. Reprographics services (including photocopying): are provided solely by Library staff or their authorised agents. Conditions may apply; please see the Supervisor for details.
7. Health & Safety: If medical assistance is required please contact the Supervisor. In the event of a fire or other alarm, keep calm and follow the Supervisor's instructions. Do not put yourself or others at risk.
8. Publication: Permission to publish manuscript or archival material, including photographs, should be sought from the Librarian. Conditions may apply.
